Galapagos Scuba Diving

One of the Best Places for Ocean Megafun

If you’re an experienced diver, you already know that Galapagos is famous in the diving world for the opportunities it gives you to get up close with a wide variety of large, bodied sea creatures.    Its schools of hammerheads are legendary, as are encounters with whale sharks, dolphins, sea turtles, rays – and possibly whales, orcas, ocean sunfish among many others.

A Mola mola, commonly known as a sunfish is seen swimming. Other little fish tag along beside the mola mola.

“I discovered diving in 2001 in Galapagos and I immediately knew that diving would become my vocation. I became a professional PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in 2003 and since then I have worked as a Galapagos National Park certified dive guide while also operating my own diving school. To date, I have trained more than 500 students.  My diving experience also includes great opportunities working in Central America and in Fernando de Noronha – Brazil as a diving instructor, acquiring more experience. I am a Galapagos resident and one of the things that I love the most is snorkeling with my children and showing them the underwater world of Galapagos.” – Claudia

Galapagos Diving Options

Live Abroad

7 night / 8 day live-aboards will take you Darwin and Wolf Islands, at the northernmost extremes of the archipelago where the warmer tropical currents make for marine ecosystems that contrast with those in the central islands.   This is where chances of seeing schools of hammerheads and whale sharks are greatest. Only a handful of live-aboard ships operate in the Galapagos. These demanding trips are for committed and highly experienced scuba divers.  Expect to do 3 or 4 dives a day most of the time.  Advanced certification required.

Multi-Day Land-Based Diving Programs

Enjoy two-tank diving day trips in the Galapagos while enjoying evenings in town; or take some time off, combining diving trips with naturalist outings to fascinating visitor sites.   Open water dive certification required (or take the course while in the islands).  We can help you assemble an interesting package mixing day-trip dive sites, accommodations, inter-island transport and naturalist day trips.

Scuba-Diving School

The CNH Tours diving expert runs her own dive school in Puerto Ayora.  If you’d like to leave Galapagos with your official PADI certification, we can make it happen.
